UNDER THE MONTORSOLI LANTERN

Continua la mia escursione lungo la Falce di Messina e questa volta partendo dall’ex stazione di degassifica Smeb, l’ecomostro in tecnicolor protagonista del post ARCHEOLOGIA INDUSTRIALE, mi sono spinta lungo la costa della penisola di San Raineri per giungere in uno dei luoghi più affascinanti e misteriosi di Messina : La Lanterna del Montorsoli. Il faro, uno dei pochi monumenti rimasti in piedi nel corso dei secoli a dispetto di terremoti e bombardamenti, sorge nella blindatissima zona della Marina Militare e per potervi accedere è necessario concordare con “Essa” la visita (non sempre concessa). La zona comunque si può raggiungere, come ho fatto io , percorrendo la costa e una volta giunti sotto la Lanterna, dopo aver superato qualche piccolo ostacolo, lo spettacolo inizia…

Continue my hike along the Sickle of Messina and this time starting from the former Smeb degassing station, the technicolor eco monster i protagonist of the ARCHEOLOGIA INDUSTRIALE post, I walk along the coast of the peninsula of San Raineri to arrive in one of the most fascinating and mysterious place of Messina: the Montorsoli Lantern. The Lantern, one of the few monuments still standing over the centuries in spite of earthquakes and bombings, is located in the heavily fortified area of the Navy and to access this area you have to arrange with “It” the visit (not always granted). The area, however, can be achieved, as I did, along the coast and once you get under the lantern, after having overcome some small obstacle, the show begins …
